Review/External Wildcard (X1)

Being attracted to movies is quite different from being attracted to games. For a movie, if it attracts you, you can not only watch it, but also find relevant media or watch it again. What stopped you? Don’t misunderstand me now. Games can be like that But games demand more of you than movies. You must actively participate in the challenges. But it will take longer to complete these challenges initially. Not to mention the second one. Sadly, this is the place of me and the wilderness.

Aesthetically, I like everything about this game. The design of the Hess, the main alien race, is very good. I like their rustic atmosphere and obviously advanced space travel ability. NPC and even player characters have interesting conversations to break the relative silence of space travel. I also like many planetary designs. Obviously, everything you see on the screen is full of love. This does not mean that graphics will win any awards or anything, but the game world(or the solar system I would like to say) is very cool and popular to see all other planets. The interior decoration starts to show some repetitions after time, but it may wear out, but the initial discovery time is worth going.

During the journey through the wild, you will not find that any villain can fight or challenge monsters. This game is about exploration and mystery. You played the role of an astronaut from Muluo planet, who encountered a strange phenomenon before performing a mission. This places the player in a time loop. Your goal is to find out what causes the cycle and how to end it. Indeed, this is a persuasive puzzle. Especially it’s easy to be interested in this role.

But resolving it could be real resistance. As long as you die, the cycle will start again, but you will not call the “outer wilderness” a hooligan. When you play the game, the only thing you can get is the information from your ship’s computer, which will never be reset. The problem is that there is very little information to refer to. NPC provides several threads, which have made natural progress from the beginning, but can be independent soon. Your main guide will be an alien writer, but you don’t always know what this information means. At the same time, it is all more difficult to control. I’m sure the universe and interstellar physics are real, but it doesn’t necessarily bring good gameplay. It is almost impossible for your spaceship to land on a smaller object, and it may be more troublesome than this story to use only your jet aircraft to circle a planet. In my opinion, for this kind of game, proximity should take precedence over realism.

This is why I said that although “The Outer Wilderness” attracted me with its unique world and convincing mystery, I did not rush to finish it. Xbox Game Pass can be subscribed for $1 in the first month, so you can try it like me. If you are attracted like me, you may solve the mystery. If you don’t do this, at least you have other options for game passing?
